Sedimentary stone takes millions of years to form, and often times the layers are consistent throughout allowing the sculptor to predict what can be found inside.     Rhyolite is an exciting stone to carve because of the unpredictable nature of the patterns and colors.   Opening the stone up is like peering back in time to watch as nature laid down the original patterns.
