Both Sides Now

There is a serendipitous element to stone carving when you expose a feature of a stone that deserves focus.   The organic side of this sculpture looks like any number of rocks that cover the planet.   Cutting it in preparation to carving my original idea it was obvious this stone held a secret of long ago flooding rivers and sediment collection to create a natural work of art I could not improve upon.    I polished the cut face to allow everyone to look at the stone from “both sides”, what it was and what it is.   The only improvement I could offer was to associate it with the song title written by Joni Mitchell.
