The Great Auk

$4,800

The Great Auk was a flightless bird on islands in the North Atlantic that was driven to extinction in the mid-1800s because its feathers had commercial value as down for feather beds.

Wipe out an entire species of bird and decimate an ecosystem so a few people can have fluffier pillows?   Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
