The fourth annual sculpture show at the Live 4 Art Gallery offers visitors a chance to step into the third dimension with artworks.   Wood fired ceramic artist Joel Brown, stone sculptor Bob Madden, and fiber artist Karen Madden all bring unique styles that encourage the viewer to think beyond the physical presentation and consider the negative space the sculptures surround.  Although the artists did not collaborate during the creation process, the common thread of working and presenting in three dimensions provides an obvious complementary connection of ideas and context among the works.

Artists Reception:  Saturday, August 3  5:00pm – 7:00pm

Location:  Live 4 Art Gallery;  20 Coleman Blvd,   Pawling NY

Bob and Karen will both be open for the weekend and demonstrating their talents with working with stone and metal. Both have selected projects that they will be featuring and creating during the weekend with the goal of a nearly completed piece at the end of the day on Sunday.

Checkout the website, ArtEast May Open Studio tour to see what they have planned.

Date: May 4 & 5

Open: 11:00am to 5:00pm both days.

The artists at ArtEast are starting the planning process and that includes Karen and Bob. They’re both working on new projects that you have just got to see, in person come October (unless, of course, they’re already been sold!)

This year’s tour will be held on Oct. 14/15 and 21/22. We’ve already put the order in for beautiful weather and colorful fall leaves. Enough can’t be said for fun this tour brings to all who experience it! So mark your calendars for this event!

The anticipated annual ArtmostNY Open Studio Tour is gearing up this spring.

As in the past, artists will be opening the doors to their studios and letting you in to see the processes they use in creating their art. Conversations with the artists about the tools they use are always enlightening.

Karen is hard at work on her first new metal sculpture of 2023! It’s nearly done and in fact is at the powder coater waiting for a layer of two of eye popping color. It’s working title is Galaxy Quest.

RASP Studios has been selected to create the awards for the Annual Dutchess County Executive Art Awards. Pictured here were the awards for 2022.

Upcoming in 2021: Artmostny Operating Studio Tour

May 1-2

Bob is chipping away on this white marble. Come by the ArtEast Open Studio Tour in October to see the finished piece.

Karen is working on making this area next to her metal studio into a sculpture garden.

Want to have some fun? Try making making some music while weaving marble. Ask Bob how he did these pieces at the ArtEast Open Studio Tour event in October.

Got a big boulder to move?    Better get a big excavator and someone who knows how to drive it (not me!!).     Took a surprisingly short time to get it moved and up into position.   August has been a pretty rainy month so prgress slowed, but did not stop.

And the beat goes on, the boulder is getting smaller and close to final shape.    Down to a very svelte 9 tons.     Getting close to the point where we’ll tip it up on end and I’ll start the detail work.   While I’m anxious to see this beast standing up at 10 ft tall, then I’ll have to hold the angle grinder over my head to make some of the cuts I have planned.    Better be careful what I wish for.
