Destiny’s Child

$9,500

Creating a sculpture within the original stone gives appreciation to the unseen artistry that might exist inside everything, just waiting to be unveiled.   The counterpoint of smooth, polished, intentional shape framed by the random, organic, unpredictable stone creates a juxtaposition that’s fun to think about.    The rough exterior also creates a frame that brings the eye to the center sculpture putting more emphasis on the story being told.

This piece’s name, “Destiny’s Child”, references a prior work, “Destiny Calls”, I had the privilege to create for a friend’s outdoor sculpture garden.   In creating the parent piece I recognized the power of framing a sculpture with stone and will look for ways to continue this concept in the future.

“Destiny Calls”  contains a story told by the interior sculpture which documents part of the owners life and journey.
